Make a Wiki or Tutorial
Making a tutorial isn't easy, so thanks in advance for showing interest!
Using Markdown
For a massive page explaining what features and code you can add, check out the markdown info page. For your convenience, a link to the markdown syntax is located below any wiki / tutorial body textbox.
Freelinking
If there are a number of terms which deserve wiki articles, feel free to freelink them even if they do not already exist. You can freelink something by putting double square brackets around it. Clicking a link without content will take the user to the wiki creation page with the page title already inserted.
Best Practices
Always start by talking about the goals, requirements and prior knowledge needed for the tutorial, then show an example of the end product. In most cases, the example will be flash. To embed a flash file, upload it at the bottom, then type: swf file="UploadedFileName.swf" inside the less than and greater than < >.
Show Lots of Pictures and Break Down Steps
Almost every step should have a picture. Consider adding a picture whenever you click anything or type anything in a properties box. Break down a complicated process into many steps. If it's difficult, or if you notice that people are having problems following along, make sure that you have a distinct step each time you tell them to do something.
Use Examples
The goal of a wiki or tutorial is to educate. If you think something is particularly difficult to understand or grasp, use examples. For a tutorial involving code, this may involve taking an extra step to add in trace statements - just to prove to the user that they're on the right track.
Make Sure It Works!
All of us get ahead of ourselves, but we have to be extra careful when trying to educate others. Make sure that you write down every step, and before submitting, ** ALWAYS ** run through the steps one more time.
Your tutorial might make sense to you, but will they make sense to someone else? A good practice is inviting a friend to go through the tutorial to make sure it works how you intend for it to.
Errors
We all make mistakes. Sometimes the fault might be our own, or sometimes the software changes. Find an error in a tutorial or wiki page? If you know how to fix the problem, please edit the content to reflect the change, and make a note in the revision log saying what you fixed.
If you're using a different version of Flash, extension, etc be sure to note your version and what you did differently rather than replacing the current information.
If you don't know how to fix a problem, then please report it by commenting below the article. Maintainers, please check back later after submitting a tutorial to see if anyone is having problems. While this is community run, and anyone may make corrections, the insight of the original author will be invaluable!
Closed until further notice
Well, it's been a fun ride, but we've had to close our doors officially. We'll leave the games up so you can keep playing if you so desire, but everything else is shut down. It's been fun!
